Is Macau The New Las Vegas ?
The luxurious life is definitely growing its roots in Macau. The Chinese area is now expanding more than ever with numbers of leisure hotel destinations. Already counting some of the world’s iconic hotels such as the Venetian Hotel Resort, the Wynn & Encore Resorts, the Okura Macau and even the all time symbolic Grand Lisboa. A good portion of these hotels are counting some of the most enjoyable casino floors and are welcoming even more people each year. Everything is set up to delight the most affluent people of the world.
Not only does it drives the touristic minds to come and visit the place, some of the most powerful people also want a piece of the staggering Macau lifestyle. A countless number of hotels are expected to be built in the near future, such as the one lead by Karl Lagerfeld and the Sociedade de Jogos, to open inside the Lisboa Palace development.
A new luxury hotel was recently announced and is designed by the British architect Zaha Hadid. It involves a 40 story building enveloped in a latticed or also said ‘’exoskeletal’’ shell. It is called the City of Dreams Hotel Tower and is an addition to the already existing City of Dreams Macau. The complex is scheduled to be finished in 2017, counting 780 guestrooms as well as suites and sky villas.
Structural engineering boundaries are strongly pushed forward by the visionary Zaha Hadid as numerous negative spaces are counted in this unusual design. Lots of diamond and pyramidal patterns are repeated to create a 3D interior and exterior feeling.
The City of Dreams tower is developed by Melco Crown Entertainment and will count multiple gaming rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities, a pool, and a spa. The founders are now at their fifth development project and they count some extravagant work to their books. They built the Altira Hotel which is also based in Macau, and their new City of Dreams Hotel in Manila is expected to open later this year.
