The 2015 Drive4Smiles Poker Run

By Johnathan Rothman

Saturday May 24th marked the second edition of the Drive 4 Smiles Poker Run, an exotic car rally benefiting the Starlight Foundation. We were lucky enough to be part of the rally sitting in the passenger seat of a brand new, sublime green, 707 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with our friends from United Auto

The starting line was at the brand new showroom of Lamborghini Montreal in Montreal's West Island where over 80 high exotic vehicles were present in the dealers large exterior rear parking lot. From Italian supercars, to American muscle and British style to even an Ariel Atom, there was a vehicle in that parking lot to please anyone's personal taste. A represent from Pfaff McLaren Toronto took part in the rally in a Union Jack inspired McLaren 650S Spider that even had a decal revealing plans a McLaren Montreal showroom coming to the city in the spring of 2016.

Upon departure from the starting point, the 80 participants were divided up into teams of approximately 10 vehicles leaving in intervals of 10 minutes and would commence their journey to Hawkesbury, Ontario. From there, the teams would travel along a scenic route through the backroads of Québec drawing a great deal of attention at every pit stop along the journey.

The event concluded at the Autodrome St. Eustache where a delicious spread of food was prepared and participants even got the chance to drag race their vehicles against one another. A McLaren MP4-12C GT3 (the only currently in North America), made an appearance at the track and participants of the rally were able to, upon a donation, sit in the passenger seat of this racecar as it did laps around the track. In total, over $200,000 was raised for the event making it a huge success. A big thank you to the team responsible for organizing the event and if you would like to make a donation, please visit www.starlightquebec.org for more information.
